Abstract

The sedekah bumi (earth offering) tradition is a cultural heritage still preserved by the community of Lombang Village, Juntinyuat District, Indramayu Regency. This study aims to examine the implementation and significance of the sedekah bumi tradition for the local community. A qualitative research method was employed, utilizing data collection techniques such as interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings indicate that the sedekah bumi tradition is observed as an expression of gratitude to Allah SWT for the harvest, as well as for the safety and well-being of the community. The event engages all segments of society through a series of activities, including communal prayers, gotong royong (mutual cooperation), communal meals, and folk entertainment. Beyond its religious significance, the sedekah bumi tradition plays a vital role in strengthening social ties, fostering a spirit of togetherness, and preserving local culture. Thus, the sedekah bumi tradition serves a crucial function in upholding the social, cultural, and religious values of the Lombang Village community.
