The Implications of Visiting Buyut Combined with Wayang Art for Community Empowerment in Jagapura, Gegesik District, Cirebon Regency

This study aims to understand the essence and implementation of the Ngunjung Buyut tradition integrated with wayang art, as well as to identify its implications for community empowerment in Jagapura Village, Cirebon. The results indicate that the essence of the Ngunjung Buyut tradition serves as a form of reverence to ancestors and a means of seeking safety, where wayang art functions as a complementary entertainment after the core rituals are completed. This tradition has positive implications for community empowerment, manifested through the strengthening of social capital in the form of spontaneous mutual cooperation during event preparation, as well as the enhancement of the local economy for traders and UMKM around the activity location. Nevertheless, the limited involvement of the younger generation, which remains restricted to supporting roles, poses a distinct challenge for the future process of cultural regeneration.
